13 Apr Forget the rules | Create your own – Styling workshop Kiama Beach
After a few car tyre issues were sorted out, I found myself flying down the Princes Hwy – heading south towards the beautiful seaside town of Kiama. I arrived to the sound of laughter and champagne bottles being popped. The host for today’s stying event is Tracey. She is blessed with a group of lively, fun, supportive friends who were all happy to come along and learn more about personal style, accessorising for impact and embracing the body we have.
I had invited the girls to bring along items from their own wardrobes that they needed style advice on. It was fun coming up with ways to wear items that they already owned. One of my many roles as a stylist is to help women utilise the wardrobe they already own and advise on ways to make their wardrobe ‘work harder’.
The excitement built during the 2 hr session and towards the end we started playing dress ups, with Tracey as the model. I dressed her to reflect the style she most identified with and there was no denying the transformation right in front of our eyes. We played with colour, accessories and the way clothing can transform / alter our body shape.
I loved hearing feedback on what the girls learnt or felt inspired to action :-
- ‘ THE best therapy going around !!!! It made me think about the pieces I need for the clothes I already have ‘
- ‘ I love the idea of having items in my wardrobe work hard for me – if I can’t wear them 3 ways, then they are taking up valuable space ‘
- ‘ I was inspired to attack my wardrobe the next day. I have a large bag of clothes going off to the salvos, which I am so happy about. I could probably be more ruthless though ‘
A styling party is a great opportunity to catch up with your tribe, be under no pressure to buy clothing and leave inspired and armed with what your own personal style means. Guaranteed you leave thinking about your wardrobe in a whole new light.
March forward and re claim your inner style amongst the chaos of life. Shopping with focus is the key.
Learn the rules that your allowed to break. Forget the rules. Build your own rules.
